On June 5, 2018 the First International Conference on Physical Therapy in Oncology will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
With this conference, we aim to bring together physical therapists involved in cancer care from around the world to exchange best evidence and best practices, to discuss the position of physical therapy in oncology and to make a first step towards international collaboration.
The program includes keynote speakers who are leading scientists or opinion leaders in this field:
Dr. Stephen Morris, professor of physical therapy and chair of the Oncology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and
Dr. Nicole Stout, who is an internationally recognized expert in cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema management, and an advocate for the role of physical therapy in oncology.
Also, leading scientists and opinion leaders in the field of physical therapy in oncology and exercise oncology will present sessions on various topics related to physical therapy in oncology. Among them are Dr. Lee Jones, Dr. Kristin Campbell, Dr. Morten Quist, Dr. Margie McNeely, Dr. Caroline Speksnijder and Dr. Martijn Stuiver.
The conference organization is in the hands of the Dutch Institute for Allied Health Care (NPi). The NPi is a non-profit organization, and the national expertise centre of allied health care in The Netherlands. NPi is preferred partner of the Royal Dutch Society of Physical Therapy (KNGF) for educational activities.
We welcome abstracts on ongoing or recently completed scientific research, or on projects aimed at implementation or development of physical therapy care in oncology.
